Board Committee Overviews
|
We welcome your participation...
| Board committee members help VMS continue to thrive by working to sustain an environment where children are inspired. Committees plan for the immediate and long term future of the school. The overall responsibility of providing governance and direction to the organization and the Executive Director is the charge of the VMS Board of Trustees. However, much of this direction is generated by ideas and planning processes created at the committee level and stem directly from the VMS community at large. Participating on a board committee gives you direct input on the school's decision making process.
The following is a short list of descriptions for each of the three main standing committees and commitments for committee members. |
Strategic Planning The Strategic Planning Committee assists the Director and the Board of Trustees to set the long term direction and plans for Valley Montessori School. The committee looks at the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for our school community and helps to set the priorities and programs for the long term well being of VMS. Members of the Strategic Planning Committee help evaluate the school's 5-year plan which addresses educational, financial, campus and organizational goals, review measures of success, linkage to operational plans, and provide recommendations to the Board on an ongoing basis.
Development The Development Committee works to create and maintain collaborative relationships within our community and obtain philanthropic resources to forward the strategic objectives of the school. Our partnerships within the community are key, as they enable us to enhance our educational programs and continue to improve our environment for the children. Development Committee members help evaluate the school’s fundraising and development plan and seek philanthropic resources to keep our school thriving. Examples of development activities include: - Annual Giving Campaign
- Hillside Development
- Grant Seeking/Writing
- Annual Gala and Auction
Technology The Technology Committee creates the vision and recommendations for the appropriate use of technology in a Montessori environment. Working in the heart of the technology industry, the committee members continue to evaluate the unique technology needs of the VMS students and staff. Technology committee members help set the standards and implementation plan for use of computers, the internet, multimedia learning content, and other technologies. |
