Science Day

We had a wonderful day celebrating science at VMS! We also had a special presentation on earthquakes given by the Lawrence Hall of Science.

Madden Children's Science Project

The Madden children wanted to know: exactly how high is space? how cold does it get up there? and what are the different layers of the atmosphere? So they sent a balloon up to the stratosphere to find out! The balloon reached somewhere around 90,000 to 112,000 feet (17 to 21 miles high) and the entire flight took about 2 hours and 20 minutes. And talk about cold... it was -60 degrees Fahrenheit up there! Watch this amazing video of their experiment.
