What is freedom within limits and how does this support the teaching of boundaries? What about natural and logical consequences? Get a glimpse inside our classrooms while gaining tools to distinguish logical from natural consequences.

Knowledge is power! Awareness is key! The goal of this workshop is to empower children by learning the skills to set appropriate boundaries and respect the personal space and safety of others.

Executive functioning skills are necessary life skills. Students who are organized, focused, can manage their emotions, and are equipped to handle change, have stronger executive functioning skills. This set of explicit skills is essential for students to succeed in school and beyond.

Thursday, April 21: Finding Tech Balance & Introducing Online Safety to Young Children, 6:30pm
 This virtual workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of children ages 0-8 to learn tips for raising safe, responsible and ethical young digital citizens. During this hour-long session:

 

  • Design a simple family media plan with expectations or rules you can share with your family and practice at home.
  • Explore how to introduce digital citizenship and online safety in an accessible way to young children.
  • Practice strategies to use media with your children and draw connections to real life experiences.
  • Link teachable moments with media to executive functioning skills in early childhood development.

Presenter Liz Kline, served as VP of Education at Common Sense Media where she led the development of a new K-12 Digital Citizenship Curriculum. Liz currently serves as a Senior Education Adviser to Common Sense Media and just joined Reading Futures, a virtual dyslexia tutoring start-up, as the Head of Product.


Thursday, May 26: Vanessa Callaghan, MEd.: Navigating Big Emotions with Calm & Confidence, 6:30pm
Learn how to STAY CALM in the middle of BIG EMOTIONS while supporting your child’s social and emotional growth. This training will help you not only survive tough parenting moments at any age, but will also help you build more intimacy, resilience, and trust in your relationship as you learn key insights into bringing social and emotional learning (SEL) home. Although all are welcome, this workshop is for parents of children k-8.
