CHILDCARE ASSISTANT
This individual will work from 3 – 5:00/6:00pm with students from 1st through 8th grade. Primary responsibilities include transitioning and supervising children that arrive for after school childcare while providing a safe, nurturing and beautiful environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected. The Childcare Assistant will model appropriate behaviors and help facilitate an environment designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth following Montessori philosophies.

Qualifications:
–  Experience working with children
–  Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.

TODDLER ASSISTANT
The Toddler Teaching Assistant will work with children 18 months to 3 years old. We are looking for a collaborative, positive and nurturing person that is passionate about children and the Montessori approach to education. This position requires love, patience and respect for children. This individual will work approximately from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the classroom during the 2023-2024 school year. Compensation is dependent upon education and experience.

Qualifications
– Minimum 12 ECE units required
– Meet all state licensing requirements
– Experience working with young children (1+ years of experience preferred)
– Passionate about Montessori Approach
– Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds of staff, children and their families

We are looking for a collaborative and nurturing individual for this full-time position. Compensation is dependent upon education and experience.

Qualifications

  • A Montessori credential from a recognized training center or in progress.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, education, or related field or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a toddler classroom.
  • Physical stamina to work with young children and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, communicate effectively and supervise other personnel when necessary.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

PRIMARY TEACHING ASSISTANT
The Primary Teaching Assistant will encourage children ages 3 to 6 years old to be independent and model for them appropriate manners and behaviors and help facilitate a classroom environment designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth following the philosophy of Maria Montessori. This person will assist the teacher in providing a safe and nurturing environment in which the children can grow physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. Compensation is dependent upon education and experience.

UPPER ELEMENTARY TEACHER
We are seeking a dedicated, relationship-driven individual for our well-established Upper Elementary program beginning August 2024. The ideal candidate would have teaching experience with 9-12 year olds as well as a deep understanding and respect for the child at this stage of development. Compensation is dependent upon education and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual student and the group.
  • Collaborate with the co-teacher in planning weekly lesson plans based on a curriculum outline.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents through parent conferences, online correspondence, and on a daily informal basis.

Qualifications

  • A Montessori credential in ELEM II (or willingness to obtain credential)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Classroom experience with 9-12 year olds

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS
VMS seeks qualified individuals with flexible schedules to serve as substitute teachers in classes for toddlers ages 18 – 36 months and primary students ages 3-6 years old.

Qualifications:
–  Experience working with young children
–  Minimum of 9 Early Childhood Education units required
–  Meet all state licensing requirements plus be fully vaccinated for Covid-19
–  Available to take calls at 6:30am
