HISTORY

Founded in 1976, Valley Montessori School is an independent, non-profit school which embraces the philosophy of Maria Montessori and currently serves more than 400 students from toddler to 8th grade.Valley Montessori School was founded by Montessori educator Elizabeth Marshall to serve the children of the East Bay. The school became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1997 guided by past head of school, Mary Ellen Kordas.

Locations of the main campus and additional campuses changed six times during 35 years until the current location was established at 1273 North Livermore Avenue in 2002. Valley Montessori School is currently under the leadership of Patti Wilczek, Head of School

The Livermore Valley, located about 60 miles east of San Francisco, is a multi-ethnic, primarily suburban area that includes a broad socio-economic population. Key businesses and industry in the area include viticulture, ranching and a growing high tech innovation hub. Livermore is also home to the Lawrence Livermore and Sandia National Laboratories.

The campus is on North Livermore Avenue, just three long blocks from Interstate 580. Families from Livermore, Tracy, Mountain House, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon and Danville find an easy commute to Valley Montessori.

Livermore is a vibrant East Bay Community which has won livability awards for its rehabilitated downtown area and has a thriving economy based on a good mix of national scientific laboratories, high tech industries and viticulture.
