Welcome to Valley Montessori School

Dear VMS Community,

At Valley Montessori School, success is defined as something much broader and richer than outstanding academic achievement. Providing an exceptional Montessori educational experience for children 18 months of age through 8th grade, our passionate teachers inspire and empower students, fostering independence, resilience and a life-long love of learning. At Valley Montessori, we adhere to the philosophy and practices of Maria Montessori, following the child as they become curious about the materials and explore their classroom environment. Our students are provided beautiful, child-centric learning spaces that include furniture and materials sized for their smaller bodies.

Within our multi-age classes where each child is truly known, our teachers provide individualized, hands-on learning, offering appropriate levels of challenge and social emotional learning that is geared for each student’s stage of development. Through the process of learning and discovery, children explore, become respectful and kind people, and discover their passion and talents.  Our VMS students become eloquent communicators, and compassionate advocates for social justice who will help make the world a better place.

An integral part of the Montessori curriculum involves learning about world cultures and differences among people around the globe. Given current societal challenges within our country and world-wide, the Valley Montessori School community remains committed and dedicated to fostering compassion, equity and inclusivity throughout our daily practices. Our community stands against discrimination, harassment, racism and violence of any kind. We are a school where everyone is welcomed and accepted for who they are.

In the VMS caring community, our dedicated, outstanding faculty and staff provide rich learning experiences that includes music, art, athletics and Spanish in the elementary and middle school grades. All students develop their practical life skills, learning sewing, gardening and food preparation. Montessori education fosters not only academic excellence, but provides children with the ability to be successful people whether at home, in school or in the workplace. VMS graduates are truly competent, confident young people who are exceptionally well prepared for high school and beyond.

Since the school’s founding in 1976, VMS students have gone on to achieve great success in their colleges and careers. They have also continued to demonstrate a commitment to making the world a better place in ways that inspire us every day.

We invite you to our campus in Livermore, California. Come walk through our classrooms and hallways, and experience the peaceful, deeply engaging Montessori classrooms for yourself. We look forward to welcoming you.

Warm regards,

Patti
